Ash's 747 Story

When I was a toddler my Dad used to always point up at the sky whenever a Qantas 747-338 or 747-438 flew over, this planted the AvGeek seed. It always made me so so excited. I never got the chance to fly on one until I heard about the 747 domestic flights before the Antarctic flights at the end of 2019. My Dad and I booked seats for the New Year’s Eve flight QF417 SYD-MEL. It was 747-438ER VH-OEJ. This particular 747 then became my favourite plane to see as it was the only 747 I had ever been on. On the flight the cabin crew let my up in the crew rest, we were allowed to walk on the upper deck and my Dad and I even scored a cockpit visit. I will miss VH-OEJ and all our other Qantas 747 friends but I am thankful for the experiences I had.
